Configuring Bandwidth Management
The following procedure provides general instructions for configuring BWM on the switch.
Specific configuration examples begin on page 457.
1. Configure the switch as you normally would for SLB. Configuration includes the follow-
ing tasks:
n Assign an IP address to each of the real servers in the server pool.
n Define an IP interface on the switch.
n Define each real server.
n Define a real server group.
n Define a virtual server.
n Define the port configuration.
For more information about SLB configuration, see Server Load Balancing on page 117.
2. Enable BWM on the switch.
NOTE If you purchased the Bandwidth Management option, make sure you enable it by typ-
ing /oper/swkey and entering its software key.
3. Select a bandwidth policy.
Each policy must have a unique number from 1 to 64.
4. Set the hard, soft, and reserved rate limits for the policy, in Mbps.
Typically, charges are applied for burst rates between the soft and hard limit. Each limit must
be set between 256K-1000M.
NOTE For rates less than 1 Mbps, append a K suffix to the number.
