When you begin the VT-100 session, you will be prompted for a password.
The default password is
password
(which is a Level 0 superuser password).
You can change this password using the
Access Passwords
option, which
is only accessible through the terminal menu. See Access Passwords on page
6-13 for details. After your password is accepted, define the IP Address of
the ATLAS 810
PLUS
to which you want to connect. The following Step/Ac-
tion chart describes this process.
Instructions for Setting Up an ATLAS 810
PLUS
for VT-100 Terminal Mode
Step Action
1
Set the baud rate on the VT-100 terminal to 9600 baud (8/N/1).

Use the ADTRAN-provided VT-100 terminal adapter to connect
the
COM
port of a VT-100 compatible terminal, or equivalent, to
the eight-pin modular jack labeled
CONTROL/CHAIN IN
on the
rear panel
or
labeled
CRAFT
on the front panel.
This connection provides both local and remote configuration.

Repeatedly press
Enter
on the keyboard until the
Login
menu
requiring a password appears.

If necessary, press
Ctrl-R
to refresh the display.
Instructions for Defining the IP Address
Step Action

Obtain an IP address for the ATLAS 810
PLUS
from your LAN
administrator.

Use the ADTRAN-provided VT-100 terminal adapter to connect
the
COM
port of a VT-100 compatible terminal, or equivalent, to
the eight-pin modular jack labeled
CONTROL/CHAIN IN
on the
rear panel
or
labeled
CRAFT
on the front panel.
This connection provides both local and remote configuration.

Repeatedly press
System
on the front panel until the
Login
menu appears. Enter your password.

When the terminal menu opens, navigate the following path:
ATLAS 810PLUS / System Config / Ethernet port / IP Address

Key in the entire IP address, and then press
Enter
.
You will need a default gateway if the LAN contains multiple
segments. Contact your LAN administrator for the appropriate
address.
