Dell Open Manage Array Manager
Installation Overview
Dell Open Manage Array manager is supported in Windows NT 4.0 (with
Service Pack 5 or greater) and Windows 2000 (with Service Pack 1 or
greater). The installation procedure for the two operating systems is
identical however there are information dialogs that will appear while
installing under Windows 2000 so the procedures for both are enumerated
here.
NOTE: The Dell Open Manage Array Manager will replace the native
disk management (normally the disk management snap-in used with
Computer management).
Windows NT 4.0
The installation into Windows NT 4.0 is straightforward. It uses the
standard InstallShield Wizard interface. The steps below are a
walkthrough of the installation procedure.
Service Pack 5 or greater is required for Dell Open Manage Array
Manager to work.
Windows 2000
The installation procedure Windows 2000 is almost identical to the one for
Windows NT 4.0. The steps are outlined here with emphasis placed on
the additional steps.
Service Pack 1 or greater is required for functionality of Dell Open
Manage Array manager.
An important note is that Dell Open Manage Array manager replaces the
functionality of the Disk Management plug-in in Computer Management
in Windows 2000. This is noted once during the installation and once
after rebooting to complete the installation.
