GSIOC Port
Gilson systems feature a two-way communication
interface between the computer and most Gilson
modules. Communication occurs along the Gilson
Serial Input/Output Channel (GSIOC).
The liquid handler can convert the RS-232 signal
levels used by computers to the RS-422/485 signal
levels required by the GSIOC and vice versa. (See
page 2-19 for information on making the RS-232
connection between the liquid handler and
computer.)
GSIOC cable
Use the GSIOC cable to link an additional Gilson
GSIOC module to the liquid handler and control
both devices via a program executed on the
computer.
Connect the female connector, located individually
at one end of the cable, into the GSIOC port of the
liquid handler. Tighten the retaining screws. (Refer
to diagram below.)
Connect the other female connector, located on the
same end as the male connector, to the Gilson
module. Tighten the retaining screws.
If you’re connecting another Gilson module, use the
male connector to join another GSIOC cable and
make the necessary connection to the next Gilson
module.
