14 Partition for cluster /usr filesystem.
15 Partition for cluster /var filesystem.
16 Assign a unit number to each partition. When the unit is created by the
ADD UNIT command, disable access to all hosts. This allows selective
access in case there are other systems or clusters connected to the same
switch as our cluster.
Record the unit name of each partition with the intended use for that
partition (see Table 62).
17 Set the identifier for each storage unit. Use any number between 1 and
9999. The number you select for the storage unit shows up as the user
define identifier (UDID) in the wwidmgr -show wwid display. It will
be used by the WWID manager when setting the device unit number
and bootdef_dev console environment variable.
The identifier is also used with the hardware manager view devices
command (hwmgr -view devices) to locate the /dev/disk/dsk
n
value.
It will also show up during the Tru64 UNIX installation to allow you to
select the Tru64 UNIX installation disk.
____________________ Note _____________________
We recommend that you set the identifier for all Fibre
Channel storagesets. It provides a sure method of identifying
the storagesets. Make the identifiers unique numbers within
the domain (or within the cluster at a minimum). In other
words. do not use the same identifier on more than one
HSG80. The identifiers should be easily recognized. Ensure
that you record the identifiers (see Table 62).
18 Enable access to each unit for those hosts that you want to be able to
access this unit. Because access was initially disabled to all hosts, you
can ensure selective access to the units.
Use the connection name for each connection to the KGPSA host bus
adapter on the host for which you want access enabled. Many of the
connections used here are shown in Example 61.
19 Use the SHOW unit command (where unit is D131 through D133 and
D141 through 144 in the example) to verify the identifier and that
access to each unit is correct. Ensure that there is no connection to an
unwanted system. Record the identifier and worldwide name for later
use. Table 62 is a sample table filled in for the example. Table A1in
Appendix A is a blank table for your use in an actual installation. Note
