The SNMPv3 User Security Model (USM) page contains the following fields:
•
User Name
— Contains a list of user-defined user names.
•
Group Name
— Contains a list of user-defined SNMP groups. SNMP groups are defined in the
Access
Control Group
page.
•
Engine ID
— Selects whether the selected user is associated to a local or to a specified remote
SNMPv3 enabled device.
– Remote Engine ID — Indicates that the user is configured on a remote SNMPv3 enabled device.
•
Authentication Method
— Specifies the authentication method used to authenticate users. The
possible field values are:

None
— No user authentication is used.
–
MD5 —
Users are authenticated using the HMAC-MD5-96 authentication level. The user should
specify a password.
–
SHA —
Users are authenticated using the HMAC-SHA-96 authentication level. The user should
enter a password.
•
Password
— Modifies the user defined password for the group. Passwords can contain a maximum of
32 characters. Passwords are defined only if the authentication method is MD5 or SHA Password. You
define the password on the
Add Local User
page.
•
Privacy
— Specifies whether or not the authentication key is to be used. Choose one of the following
values:

None —
Do not use an authentication key.
