Control Panel Assembly
Removing the Control Panel Assembly
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician.
You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in
your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service
and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not
covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came
with the product.

Remove the bezel. See "Removing the Front Bezel" on page 81.

Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the system
from the electrical outlet and peripherals.

Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 85.
CAUTION: Do not pull the cable to unseat the connector. Doing so can
damage the cable.

To disconnect the control panel assembly cable from the connector on
the system board, press the metal tabs on the ends of the cable connector.
See Figure 3-27.

Gently pull the connector out of the socket.

Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screw that secures the control
panel assembly to the chassis. See Figure 3-27.

Press the release latch and slide the control panel away from chassis.
CAUTION: Do not pull the cable to unseat the connector. Doing so can
damage the cable.

To disconnect the control panel cable from the connector on the control
panel board, squeeze the metal tabs on the ends of the cable connector.
See Figure 3-27.

Gently pull the connector out of the socket.
