140 Installing System Components
Installing the SAS Backplane
1
Lower the backplane into the system, being careful to avoid damaging
components on the face of the board.
2
Align the slots on the SAS backplane with the tabs on the chassis.
3
Slide down the SAS backplane until the release pin snaps into place.
See Figure 3-28.

Connect the SAS, data, and power cables to the SAS backplane.

Connect the SAS, data, and power cables to their respective connectors.
See Figure 3-28.

Install the hard drives in their original locations. See "Installing a Hot-
Swap Hard Drive" on page 93.

Close the system. See "Closing the System" on page 86.
8
Replace the front bezel. See "Installing the Front Bezel" on page 82.

Place the system upright on a flat surface.
10
Reattach any peripherals and connect the system to an electrical outlet.

Turn on the system and attached peripherals.
Power Distribution Board
Removing the Power Distribution Board
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician.
You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in
your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service
and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not
covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came
with the product.

Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect
the system from the electrical outlet and peripherals.

Remove the power supplies. See "Removing a Redundant Power Supply"
on page 103 and "Removing a Non-Redundant Power Supply" on page 105.

Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 85.
4
Disconnect all the power cables connected to the system board.
