Problem
Solution
When you use an
optional interface,
the printer does not
operate as expected.
The printout is garbled
or the printer does not
print.
The interface may not be configured
correctly. If you are using a serial
interface, make sure that both the
computer and printer are set to use the
same number of data bits per word and
that they both use the same parity, baud
rate, and number of stop bits. See your
computer manual for the correct
settings.
You may also need to change the DIP
switch settings of your interface board.
Before changing these settings, however,
make sure the printer is turned off. See
Chapter 4.
The optional interface may not be
installed correctly. Turn off the printer
and unplug the interface cable and
power cable. Then check to see that the
mating connector of the interface is
plugged into the main board correctly.

You may be using the wrong interface
cable. Check with your dealer to make
sure you have the right cable. Also make
sure that you are using a shielded cable.
