Nozzle check
This function checks the print head
*1
nozzles
*2
for
clogging by printing a nozzle check pattern.
Perform head cleaning if you find that the nozzle
check pattern is unexpectedly faint or has missing
dots in the nozzle check pattern.
*1 Print head: The part that prints by spraying ink
onto the paper.
*2 Nozzle: A minute hole for spraying ink. It is
positioned where it cannot be seen from the
outside.
A
Make sure that roll paper or A3 size or
larger is loaded in the printer.
B
Press the button to enter the Menu
mode.
C
Press the / button to display TEST
PRINT, and then press the button.
D
Press the / button to display NOZZLE
CHECK, and then press the button.
E
Press the button to start printing a
nozzle check pattern.
F
Check the nozzle check pattern.
Good
There are no missing dots so the nozzles are
not clogged.
Bad
There are missing dots so the nozzles are
clogged. Perform head cleaning.

Note:
You cannot perform a nozzle check when the Ink
Check light is on.
Note:
If blurs or lacking parts in printed paper do not
disappear with one time of head cleaning,
perform Cleaning (Medium) or Cleaning
(Heavy) in the Maintenance menu.
If blurs or lacking parts in printed paper do not
disappear with several times of head cleaning, see
the following section and take appropriate
measures.
