Using SNMP
10.2 Accessing
the
Management
Interface
You
can
access
the
management
interface
for
the
IBP
from
anywhere
within the
attached
network
using
Telnet,
a
Web
browser,
or
any
SNMP-based
network management
software.
If
you
are
having
trouble
accessing
the
management interface,
then
refer
to
the
troubleshooting
information
displayed
in
the
following table.
Symptom
Action
Cannot
connect
to
the
IBP
using
Telnet, Web
browser,
or SNMP
software
•
Be
sure
you
have
configured
the
agent
with
a
valid
IP
address,
subnet
mask
and
default
gateway.
•
If
you
are
trying
to
connect
to
the
agent
via
the
IP
address
for
a
tagged
VLAN
group,
your
management
station
must
include
the
appropriate
tag
in
its
transmitted
frames.
•
Check
that
you
have
a
valid
network
connection
to
the
IBP
and
that
the
port
you
are
using
has
not
been
disabled.
•
Check
network
cabling
between
the
management
station
and the
IBP.
•
If
you
cannot
connect
using
Telnet,
there
may
already
be
four
active
sessions.
Try
connecting
again
at
a
later
time.
Cannot
access
the
on-board
configuration
program
via
a
serial
port
connection
•
Be
sure
you
have
set
the
terminal
emulator
program
to
VT100
compatible,
8
data
bits,
1
stop
bit,
no
parity,
and
19200
bps.
•
Check
that
the
null-modem
serial
cable
conforms
to
the
pin-out
connections
provided
in
the
Operating
Manual
for
the
server.
Forgot
or
lost
the
password
•
Restore
the
“Factory_Default_Config.cfg”
file
with
the
“boot
system”
command
described
on
page
134.
