FPC slot, making it difficult to turn the screws).
8. Slide the PIC out of the FPC card carrier and place it in the electrostatic bag or
on the antistatic mat.
9. If you are not reinstalling a PIC into the emptied PIC slot within a short time,
install a blank PIC panel ov er the slot to maintain proper airflow in the FPC
card cage.

Installing a PIC
To install a PIC, follow this p rocedure (see Figure 93 and Figure 94):
1. A tt ach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist and
connect the strap to one of the ESD p oints on the chassis. Make sure the router
is attached to a pr oper earth ground. F or more information about ESD, see
“Preventing Electrostatic Discharge Damage” on page 226.
