FLTR_B sequence 1 with MAC offset of 8 bytes checks for the routing indicator
bit. If the routing indicator is turned on, the frame continues to sequence 2.
Sequence 2 checks if the frame is a spanning tree explorer.
If the routing indicator is not turned on, the frame continues to the next filter
group applied to the port. If there are no other applied filter groups, the frame is
forwarded as normal.
Sequence 2 offsets 14 bytes into a frame to check if the frame is a spanning tree
explorer. If the filter matches, the frame is dropped. If the frame is not a spanning
tree explorer, the frame goes to the next filter group (if any).
NetBIOS Filters
This section provides examples of NetBIOS filters for Ethernet and token ring
ports.
Dropping NetBIOS Frames (802.3 Format) from Ethernet Ports
Filter FLE_A in Figure 6-8
drops 802.3 NetBIOS frames from an Ethernet port.
Figure 6-8. Filter to Drop NetBIOS Frames (802.3) from an Ethernet Port
FLE_A sequence 1 specifies a MAC offset of 14 bytes to read the DSAP in an
802.3 Ethernet frame. If the DSAP is equal to F0, the frame is dropped and does
not continue to the next applied filter on the port. If the DSAP is not equal to F0,
the frame is forwarded and continues to the next applied filter.
