Backplane Connection Field
The Backplane Connection (Bk plane) field
connects or disconnects the switch to
or from the backplane ring.The Bk plane field appears on the Model 5000BH
switch modules only. Setting this field to enabled causes certain ports to be
connected with certain backplane rings in the Model 5000BH switch.
For example, if a Model 5525 switch module (see Figure 1-16
) is in slot 3 of a
Model 5000BH switch with a split backplane and the backplane attachments are
connected on port 5 using the Bk plane field, backplane ring 2 is connected to
port 5. If the same module is in slot 9 and the backplane attachment is connected
on port 5, backplane ring 7 is connected to port 5.

Note:
To take full advantage of the Bk plane field, you must split the
backplane using the supervisory module in the Model 5000BH switch.
