Scenario 4
Scenario 4 (see Figure 1-13) provides a solution to the confusing configuration in
scenario 3. In this network are two bridge groups (segments A and B) with a
router passing traffic between them. The NM console is using the secondary
management port on the Centillion 50/100 switch to obtain network management
information from the switch.

As explained in scenario 3, you should avoid creating a dual path between the
console and the switch agent (shown as a dotted line connection in Figure 1-13).
The easiest way to avoid this problem is to configure only the primary or the
secondary interface. If you want to configure both to provide a redundant path for
the management information, do not configure a default gateway on either the
primary or secondary side. This precaution will prevent the dual-path problems
described.
