This section provides examples of the following filter applications:
Dropping Banyan frames from token ring ports
Dropping DEC LAT frames from Ethernet ports
Dropping Banyan Frames from Token Ring Ports
Filter FLTR_J in Figure 6-20
drops Banyan frames from token ring ports.
Figure 6-20. Filter to Drop Banyan Frames from Token Ring Ports
FLTR_J drops all LLC frames with SNAP type of 0BAD, which is used for
Banyan VINES frames.
Dropping DEC LAT Frames from Ethernet Ports
Filter FLE_H in Figure 6-21
drops DEC LAT frames from Ethernet ports.
Figure 6-21. Filter to Drop DEC LAT Frames from Ethernet Ports
Sequence 1 offsets 12 bytes into Ethernet V2.0 frames to check the protocol type
field. If the type field equals 6004, which is commonly used by LAT, the frame is
dropped and does not continue to the next applied filter. If the type field is not
equal to 6004, the frame is forwarded and continues to the next applied filter
group on the port.
