Replacing Bridges or Routers
The switch offers two benefits as a replacement for bridges and routers. First,
it provides additional ports at lower equipment cost. Second, it increases the
aggregate bandwidth of the LAN backbone.
Figure 2-12
shows a Centillion 100 switch replacing an Ethernet bridge.
This example also applies to the Centillion 50 or Model 5000BH switch.

The example in Figure 2-12 gives the servers dedicated ports. The clients are
connected to a hub, and the hub is connected to the switch.
