Configuration Files Maintaining Configuration Files
Note
If you exit the Configure mode (by entering the
exit
command or pressing
Ctrl+Z
), the CLI will ask you whether you want to make the changes in the
scratchpad active.
2.1.4 Saving the Active Configuration to the Startup Configuration File
After you save the configuration commands in the scratchpad, the control module executes the commands and makes
the corresponding configuration changes to the RS. However, if you power off or reboot the RS, the new changes are
lost. Use the following procedure to save the changes into the Startup configuration file so that the RS reinstates the
changes when you reboot the software.
1.
Ensure that you are in Enable mode by entering the
enable
command in the CLI.
2.
Enter the following command to copy the configuration changes in the Active configuration to the
Startup configuration:

When the CLI displays the following message, enter
yes
to save the changes.
Note
You also can save active changes to the Startup configuration file from within
Configure mode by entering the
save startup
command.
The new configuration changes are added to the Startup configuration file stored in the control module’s boot flash.
2.1.5 Viewing the Current Configuration
To view the current configuration:
1.
Ensure that you are in Enable mode by entering the
enable
command in the CLI.
2.
Enter the following command to display the status of each command line:
The CLI displays the active configuration file with the following possible annotations:

Commands without errors are displayed without any annotation.
-
Commands with errors are annotated with an “E.”
