The bestpaperfortheStarLaserPrinter 8 hasa smoothfinishand is of
20 to 24 poundweight.Anypaperdesignedfor photocopiersshoulddo
thetrick though;Xerox4024 andCanonNP printnicely. Highquality
cotton bond paper,whichcontainsup to 25 percentcottontibres,works
passablywellwithevenheavierweights.
The absolutelimits arc 16-poundpaper al the light end and 35-pound
stockattheheaviest.Withhcavypaper,openthetraysothepageswillbc
dclivcrcdfaceup andwon’thaveto bendoverthe finalrollers.
Be awarethatanypuckeredor wovenfinishmaynotprint as sharplyas
you‘dlike.Avoidshinycoatedpaperormultipartforms.Anddon’teven
thinkaboutputtingin stapledor rippedpages.
If you frequentlychangepaperweights,you willprobablyget skewing
problcms—linesthatprintal an anglebecauseof misfccding.For best
results,whenyourStarLaserPrintcr8isfirstsetuphavethepaperfccdcr

logoisn’tthermographed.Thickcoloredink maylook luxurious,butit
canalsowindupstuckalloveryourpnntcr’sroller.Stayawayfromany
inksthatsoftenatrelativelylowtemperatures;yourprinterfusespagesat
200: c.

Thetoncrcartridgcin yourStarLascrPrintcr8 shouldprintatleast4000
pages,20 refillsofthepapertray.Thecostof replacingatonercartridge
is not much more than that of replacingprintwheelsand ribbonson a

Butyou
canextendthelifeof a cartridge:Setthe printdensityto 7 or 8
formostofyourprinting—firstdraftsandinternalcompanywork—and
just turnthedialbackto 4 or 5 forreportsor lettersthatmustlookgreat.
