Solving Network Problems
Some common causes and solutions for network problems are listed in
the following table. These guidelines do not discuss the process of
debugging the network cabling.

Remote Wakeup
feature is not
functioning.
The Remote Wakeup
feature is not available
when using an AUI
network connection.
Use an RJ-45 network connection.
The 3-pin WOL header
may not be connected
properly.
Assure connected properly (refer
to the Hood Label on your
workstation for the location of the
3-pin WOL header).
Network driver does
not detect network
controller.
Network controller is
disabled.
Run Computer Setup and enable
network controller.
Network status link
light does not turn on,
or it flashes.
No active network is
detected.
Check cabling and network
equipment for proper connection.
Network controller is
not set up properly.
Use the Network control
application to verify that device is
working properly. See Chapter 3,
“Intelligent Manageability.”
System is configured
for AUI connection.
No solution; link LED does not
apply to AUI connections.
