AutoIP (APIPA (automatic private IP addressing)) is a function for automat-
ically assigning to the network interface card an IP address beginning with
169.254 and subnet mask 255.255.0.0. If a network device on the same net-
work has been assigned an IP address and subnet mask with the AutoIP
function, those network devices can communicate with each other.
