Performing IR Learning
The two stages for learning IR Protocols are:
1. Train the TVM-1600 to understand the timing sequences of the remote control protocol.
2. Learn the IR code for specific functions on that remote control.
Learning the Device’s IR Protocol
1.
A console session needs to be opened on the TVM-1600. The configuration settings for the
Terminal session are:
2. At the command prompt enter the following;
r init hub “XXXX”
Where XXXX is the name used to identify the IR File (i.e. the device’s IR File).
For example, r init hub “dvd”.
3. Push Enter to execute the command. The process will then guide you through what to do;
Point the remote control at the IR port (right window only) on the front of the TVM-1600 and press
any key on the remote when prompted.
When you are prompted to press a key, press the same key each time you are prompted. This
enables the IR learning process to sample the repeat sequence used by the device.
The system will now interpret the protocol used by the end device and the associated timings of the
protocol.
An IR initialization complete statement will be delivered once the TVM-1600 has successfully
completed the IR learning process (FIG. 34).
