Cascading Hubs
Overview
UDM Hubs can be connected (cascaded) together to increase the number of inputs which can be
delivered to the end points. This is known as cascading hubs together.
The Cascade In port and Cascade Out ports will be used when cascading 2 Hubs together.
A cascade cable UDM-EXP-01 will be required to connect Hubs together. This cable can be purchased
from AMX, as it is not shipped with the Hub.
Configuring a Master Hub
A Master Hub will have to be configured (to synchronize audio) in any cascaded system. This will
normally be the first Hub in the system and should follow a top (Master) to bottom (Slave) configuration.
In theory there is no limit to the amount of Hubs cascaded i.e. one Master only but multiple Slaves.
To configure a hub as a Master Hub;
1. Click on the Setup option.
2. Click on the Cascade master option (FIG. 70) to configure the Hub as a Master Hub.
Cascading 2 Hubs
1. To cascade 2 hubs together, ensure the hubs are located within distance of the Endeleo UDM-EXP-
01 cascade cable.
2. Attach one end of the UDM-EXP-01 cable to the Cascade Out port on the Hub whose video source
is to be cascaded to another hub.(FIG. 71)
3. Ensure the connection clips are fixed securely to ensure a good connection on the Cascade Out port.
4. Attach the other end of the UDM-EXP-01 cable to the Cascade In port on the Hub (FIG. 72), which
will transmit this cascaded video source to a display device (Rx) or indeed to another hub if using
more than 2 hubs for cascading.
