Configuration Menus 4–107
Word Length
The Data Bits parameter sets the length of the serial data word. The length of the
data word can be set to 7 or 8 bits, and must match the corresponding data bits
setting in the host computer.
Stop Bits
The Stop Bits parameter sets the number of stop bits in the serial data word.
Either one or two stop bits can be selected. The setting must match the
corresponding stop bit setting in the host computer.
Parity
The Parity parameter can be set for odd parity, even parity, mark, sense, or no
parity. The setting must match the corresponding parity setting in the host
computer.
Data Terminal Ready
This configuration is part of hardware flow control and determines when the Data
Terminal Ready (DTR) signal is generated. This signal indicates whether or not
the printer is ready to receive data.
• True continuously asserts the DTR signal.
• False never asserts the DTR signal.
• On–Line and BNF (buffer not full) asserts the DTR signal when the
printer is online and the internal serial buffer is not full.
• Off–Line or BF (buffer full) asserts the DTR signal when the printer is
offline or the internal serial buffer is full.
• On–Line asserts the DTR signal when the printer is online.
