Troubleshooting and Maintenance 126
MAINTENANCE
INK EMPTY XXXX One or more of the ink cartridges are
empty. The machine will stop all
print operations (such as printing
copies, faxes and jobs from the PC).
While memory is available, black
and white faxes will be received into
memory. If a sending machine has a
colour fax, the machine’s
“handshake” will request that the fax
be sent as black and white; if the
sending machine has the feature to
convert it, the colour fax will be
received into memory as a black and
white fax. The machine connected
with a USB cable will be able to
perform scan operations; The
machine connected with a parallel
cable, will not scan.
The cleaning process consumes a
small amount of ink.
Replace the ink cartridges. (See
Replacing the Ink Cartridges, page
143)
