Telephone (Voice) Operation
Making Voice Calls with an External
Telephone
If you connect an external telephone to the machine, the dial pad on the machine can be used to dial
a number for normal telephone calls. You can dial numbers, by using Speed Dial memory, or using
the dial pad.
Manual Dialling with an External Telephone
Manual dialling is simply pressing all of the digits of the phone number.

Pick up the external telephone’s handset.

When you hear a dial tone, dial the number, using the dial pad.

To hang up, replace the external telephone’s handset.
Search
You can search for names you have stored in Speed Dial memories. (See Storing Speed Dial
Numbers, page 20)

Pick up the external telephone’s handset.

Press Search/Speed Dial.

To search for numbers alphabetically by name, enter the first letter of the name by using the dial
pad, and then press or .
—OR—
To search for numbers numerically by Speed-Dial number, press or .

When the screen displays the name you want to call, press Mono Fax Start to begin dialling.

When the call is over, hang up.
Speed Dialling

Pick up the external telephone’s handset.

When you hear a dial tone, press Search/Speed Dial, then press # and the two-digit Speed
Dial number. (See Storing Speed Dial Numbers, page 20)

To hang up, replace the external telephone’s handset.
You can also use Chain Dialling or Pause function. (See Chain Dialling, page 22
