3.8 Floppy Disk Test
NOTE: Before running the floppy disk test, prepare a formatted work disk. Remove the
Diagnostics Disk and insert the work disk into the FDD. Otherwise, the contents
of the floppy disk will be erased.
To execute the Floppy Disk Test, select 5 from the DIAGNOSTIC TEST MENU, press
Enter.
1. The following messages will appear. Specify the start track of the floppy disk drive to be
tested.
Test start track (Enter:0/dd:00-79)?
2. The Floppy Disk test contains five subtests that test the FDD.
The floppy disk test menu will appear after you select FDD test parameters.
SUB-TEST MENU:
01-Sequential read
02-Sequential read/write
03-Random address/data
04-Write specified address
05-Read specified address
99-Exit to DIAGNOSTIC TEST MENU
3. When the subtest 04 or 05 is selected, the following messages will appear on the screen.
Select the test data
(subtest 04 only), track number and head number you want to test.
Test data ?? (subtest 04 only)
Track No. ??
Head No. ?
Select the number of the subtest you want to execute and press Enter. The following
message will appear during the floppy disk test.
FLOPPY DISK XXXXXXX XXX DIAGNOSTIC TEST VX.XX
[Ctrl]+[Break] : test end
[Ctrl]+[C] : key stop
SUB-TEST : XX
