Merged Field
This option lets you merge up to 9 fields into one field.
However, you can have only 26 characters in the final merged
field. To define a merged field, select M)erge at the field
definition prompt:
Format Entry Prompt:
Field 01: P)rompt, F)ix, L)ine
M)erge, S)ub, G)raph or T)est_
Type M and press .
The merge feature provides pad characters to fill unused
space in the field. You can use any character as the pad
character. When using a pad character, you can elect to pad
to the left or right of the overall data.
You also choose whether to merge the fields before formatting
or after formatting. For example, to merge the department and
price fields, merge them
before
formatting (before the dollar
sign and decimal point are added to the price).
After
formatting would include the monetary symbols in the merged
field.
When you select M)erge at the field definition screen, you’ll
see the following prompts.
Enter location (inches) for
’Field #’ H = 0.00 V = 0.00
Type the location of the merged field. Continue to define the
merged field. When you see
