This chapter explains how to set up the Internet Fax (referred to as iFax) feature of the

iFax Overview
If the optional Internet Fax Kit is installed in the machine, you can send and receive the
scanned data as attachments, via an intranet or the Internet. This differs from a
facsimile that transmits the data via a telephone line.
Information Checklist
Before enabling this feature, make sure that the following items are available or have
been performed.
Item By
An existing operational network utilizing TCP/IP is required. These
procedures are not designed to install a network.
Customer
Obtain and record the following information:
• IP address
• Gateway address
• Subnet mask
• Host name
Refer to the Glossary for additional information about the Gateway Address
and Subnet mask.

Set up the mail server and E-mail accounts. Customer
Test the machine to make sure that it is installed fully and functioning
correctly.
