Becauseaportablecomputerissmallandhasrestrictedair
flowaroundcomponents,itismorelikelytooverheatthana
desktopcomputer.Afaninsideyourcomputerhelpsto
eliminatesomeheat.Makesurethefanventonthesideofyour
computerisnotblockedwhenyouusethecomputer.(See

checktheventandremoveanyaccumulateddustonthe
outside.
Avoidusingorstoringthecomputerinextremelyhotorcold
areas,suchasacaronahotday.Keepthecomputerawayfrom
heatersandoutofdirectsunlight.Exposuretoexcessiveheat
maydamagecomputercomponents.
Ifyouhaveleftyourcomputerinahotplace,letitcooldown
slowlytoroomtemperature(withtheLCDpanelopen)before
usingit.
Donotremovethememory-modulecompartmentdoor,ortry
toinstallamemorymodulewhenthecomputerison.(See
Figure3forthelocationofthedoor.)

Setupyourcomputerworkareatoavoidphysicalstrain.Sit
withyourbackstraightandsupportedbyyourchair.Adjust
yourchairorworktablesothatyourarmsandwristscan

bendingortwistingyourwristsasyouwork.Yourhands
should“float”slightlyabovethekeyboard.Refertoabookon

youreyesandstretchyourmuscles.
