BXM Functional Description
This functional description provides an overview of BXM operation.
Operation in Port (UNI) Mode
This section is an overview of operation when the BXM cards ports are configured in port (access)
mode for connection to customer equipment.
The ingress flow of ATM cells from CPE into a BXM port when the card is configured for port (access)
operation is shown in Figure 5-12.
ATM cells from the customer premise equipment are:
Processed at the physical interface level by the SUNI (OC-3/OC-12) or Mux/Demux (T3/E3),
Served out via the BPX Backplane to the BPX crosspoint switch in an order of priority based on
their connection type
Policed per individual VC by the RCMP and
Routed to applicable ingress queues
