Replacing the control panel module
The steps for replacing the standard control panel module and the optional local control
panel (LCP) module, are almost identical and are described in the following steps.
Differences in the procedure, where they exist, are noted.
To remove the control panel module:
1 Follow the instructions in “Preventing static electricity discharge” on page 41. Make
sure that you turn off the server, then unplug the power cord(s) and all other cables
connected to the server.
2 Follow the instructions in “Opening the server case” on page 42.
3 Unlock the bezel (if necessary) and remove it by pulling it straight out from the front
of the chassis.
4 Disconnect the front panel cable from the backplane.
Caution Your server must be operated with a control panel module in place.
Important Correct operation of the optional LCP control panel module requires
the optional IMM module. For additional information, see “Installing
an Intel Management Module (IMM)” on page 86.
Important Installation of the optional LCP control panel module requires the
removal of the right hot-swap hard drive.
