Parameters port_based – This instructs the switch to initialize 802.1x functions
based only on the port number. Ports approved for initialization can
then be specified.
mac_based ports − This instructs the switch to initialize 802.1x
functions based only on the MAC address. MAC addresses
approved for initialization can then be specified.
<portlist> − Specifies a port or range of ports to be configured.
mac_address <macaddr> - Enter the MAC address to be initialized.
all − Specifies all of the ports on the switch.
Restrictions Only administrator-level users can issue this command.
Example usage:
To initialize the authentication state machine of some or all:
DES-3550:4# config 802.1x init port_based ports all
Command: config 802.1x init port_based ports all

Purpose Used to configure the 802.1x authentication mode on the switch.
Syntax
config 802.1x auth_mode {port_based | mac_based]
Description The config 802.1x authentication mode command is used to enable
either the port-based or MAC-based 802.1x authentication feature
on the switch.
Parameters
port_based | mac_based ports − The switch allows you to
authenticate 802.1x by either port or MAC address.
Restrictions Only administrator-level users can issue this command.
