Control panel messages for external devices
Some control panel messages will only occur if an external device
attached to the printer has caused or created an error. The following
table contains these control panel messages. For more information
regarding the external device error, see the documentation that came
with the device.
Control panel messages for external devices
Message Description Recommended action
CHECK FINISHER
DEVICE
alternates with
CLEAR JAM
A finishing device, such as a
stapler, a binder, or a 3-hole
punch device has a paper jam.
Clear the specified paper jam.
CHECK FINISHER
DEVICE
alternates with
FINISHER ALIGN
ERROR
This messaged indicates an
alignment error occurred in the
external paper handling
finishing device.
Clear the specified paper jam
and the finishers paper path.
CHECK INPUT
DEVICE
alternates with
PAPER PATH OPEN
PLEASE CLOSE IT
The optional input tray cannot
feed paper to the printer
because a door or paper guide
is open.
Check the doors and paper
guides.
CHECK OUTPUT
DEVICE
alternates with
CLOSE OUTPUT
DELIVERY PATH
The optional output device is
not properly connected to the
printer.
A proper connection must be
made for printing to continue.
EXTERNAL DEVICE
INITIALIZING
When an external paper
handling device is connected
to the printer, it must initialize
after the printer boots or after
coming out of PowerSave
mode.
No action required.
INPUT DEVICE
CONDITION XX.YY
An input paper handling
device has a condition that
needs attention before printing
can resume.

OUTPUT DEVICE
