Connecting Your Printer to an IBM AS/400
This section contains instructions for connecting your printer to an
IBM AS/400.

1. Changing your Printer Configuration
Your 4230 Printer can be configured either as a 4230 Printer (if
your version of OS/400* supports the 4230 Printer), by setting
| 4224 Emulation Mode to No on Models 102, 1I1, 202, and 2I1
| or Host Emulation Mode to 4230 on Models 4I3 and 5I3, or as
| an IBM 4224 Printer (if your version of OS/400 does not support
| the 4230 Printer) by setting 4224 Emulation Mode to Yes on
| Models 102, 1I1, 202, and 2I1 or Host Emulation Mode to 4224
| on Models 4I3 and 5I3.
| For Models 102, 1I1, 202, and 2I1, the printer is shipped with
| 4224 Emulation Mode set to Yes. To set your printer's 4224
| Emulation Mode to No, see “Using Printer Setup Parameters” in

| For Models 4I3 and 5I3, the printer is shipped with Host
| Emulation Mode set to 4224. To set your printer's Host
| Emulation Mode to 4230, see “Using Printer Setup Parameters”

The 4230 printer (local or remote) is supported by OS/400 as
follows:
4230 mode (AFP *Yes or *No): V2R2 or later
4224 mode (AFP *No): V1R1 or later
4224 mode (AFP *Yes): V2R1 or later
Note: The AFP* parameter is part of the printer's device
description on the AS/400.
