Central Processing Unit (CPU) CIRCUIT BOARD
• U100 is the microprocessor. This processor is an Intel 8051 family device running at 11.0592MHz. This processor has its
own ROM and contains the operating system program.
• U102 is the Real Time Clock. B101 is the battery that backs this RTC when the power is off.
• U103 is a low address multiplex latch.
• U104 is an 8K x 8 static RAM. This device is used to hold all system temporary data.
• U105 is a 4K x 8 EEPROM, software watchdog and power monitor circuit. The system parameters are stored here.
• U106 is a serial to parallel driver. It is used to drive the front panel LEDs.
• U107 is the speech synthesizer. This is a DSP processor designed specifically for LPC speech. Data for the speech is
stored in the FLASH memory sand send to this part as required by the program.
• U109 is an advance memory device, it contains 128K x 8 FLASH, 32K x 8 EEPROM, 2K x 8 static RAM and 24 bits of
IO. This device is where the main program resides.
• U111 is a 9 volt regulator for DTMF equipped microphones.
• U112 is the system 5-volt power supply regulator.
• U113 op-amp and the associated circuit is the microphone pre-amp for the local microphone.
• U114 is the audio amplifier for the local speaker.
• Q101, Q102 and associated circuit are used connect the processor’s serial port to the rest of the system. This circuit
provides protection to the processor.
• J9 makes the connection between the digital board and analog board. The signals on this connector are isolated from the
processor buss to reduce noise on the analog board.
• J10 connector provides I/O for a LCD display.
