Audio Problems
There is no sound coming from 1. The volume knob is turned too low. 1. Adjust the volume control knob on
the built-in speakers. the right side of your notebook.
2. The software volume control is set too low. 2. Adjust the sound volume control settings
in your software, both operating system
and applications.
3. Headphones are plugged into your notebook. 3. Plugging in headphones disables the built-in
speakers, remove the headphones.
4. BIOS audio settings are incorrect. 4. Set the BIOS setup utility, Audio Features
submenu of the Advanced menu to the
default values. (See pages 77-78.)
5. Software driver is not configured correctly. 5. Refer to your application and operating
system documentation for help.
CD-ROM Drive Problems
Notebook fails to recognize CD-ROM. 1. Shipping card is still in the CD-ROM 1. Remove shipping card and replace CD

2. CD-ROM is installed with label face down. 2. Open CD-ROM tray and re-install CD
with proper orientation.
