Serial Wrap Tests
The Serial Wrap Test is used to check the each signal of the serial
port hardware, using a wrap plug. To perform the wrap test, follow
these steps:
Disconnect the serial interface cable, and install the serial wrap
plug.
Select HARDWARE TESTS from the Diagnostics Menu.
Select the appropriate Serial Wrap Test
(Serial Wrap, Serial 1 Wrap).
the printer begins testing the serial hardware and the following
screen displays:
Terminology:
x indicates which serial port is being tested
(blank=standard serial, 1=optional serial port #1).
P:###### represents the number of times the memory test finishes
successfully. Initially 000000 displays for ######. The maximum
pass count is 999,999.
F:##### represents the number of times the memory test finishes
with errors. Initially 00000 displays for #####. The maximum fail
count is 99,999.
The power indicator blinks indicating the memory test is in process.
The printer runs this test continually. The test can be terminated by
powering off the printer.
Each time the test finishes, the screen is updated with the result. If
the test is successful, the Pass Count increments by 1. If the test
fails, a failure message displays for approximately three seconds
and the Fail Count increments by 1.
