[CAUTION]
Do not approach tools near the path of the laser beam.
Take off your watches, rings, bracelets, etc. before handling the unit.
8.2 Structure
(1) Laser emission Unit
Thisunitconsistsofthelaserdiode,nitefocuslens,apertureandcylinderlens.
a. Laser diode
This laser diode features low droop, small laser variation and low threshold current.
Aperture determines the shape of the laser beam at laser emission position of the primary
scanning and secondary scanning.
Laser diode radiates the laser beam responding to the laser emission control (ON/OFF) signal
fromthelaserdrivingPCboard.Laserbeamwhichpassedthroughthenitefocuslensis
focused on the drum surface.
b. CAUTION
The beam of the semiconductor laser is very weak (about 5 mW), but focused parallel rays
creates great energy which is hazardous.
Some material of the components of the laser optical unit are metal. Since the unit is in a
sealed container, there is no danger of laser leakage during normal operation.
Note:
Laser beam is not visible. Pay the closest attention when handling the laser unit components
or performing operations such as adjustment of the laser beam, and this kind of operations are
very dangerous and must be performed only by specially trained staff.
The warning label shown below is attached on the inner housing at the front side of the equipment.
