Replacing the Print Cartridges
Periodically, you will need to replace print cartridges in
order to maintain optimum print capabilities. It is best to
install new print cartridges when the printer first displays
any of the messages listed in Table 4.1.
This section steps you through the process of replacing
used print cartridges.
Table 4.1 Print cartridge messages
Message Description
88 Color Print Cartridge Low The color print cartridge ink is
low.
88 Black Print Cartridge Low The black print cartridge ink is
low.
88 Photo Print Cartridge Low The photo print cartridge ink is
low.
Replacing print cartridges requires that the print
cartridge carrier be moved inside the printer. DO NOT
PULL THE PRINT CARTRIDGE CARRIER BY HAND, AS
THIS MAY DAMAGE THE PRINTER. Instead, follow the
procedure in the next section, “To Position the Print
Cartridge Carrier” (page 4-3), before attempting to
replace a cartridge.
