Operation and Maintenance
■ Server Management Tools Error Messages
The following error messages may appear while executing Server Management Tools. Perform the
corresponding resolution listed in the table. If messages other than the following are displayed, contact
an office listed in the "Contact Information" of the "Start Guide".
BIOS update for installed CPU failed Contact an office listed in the "Contact Information" of the
"Start Guide".
CPU ID 0n failed Change [CPU n Status] (n: CPU number) on the"8.2.13 CPU
Status Submenu" (pg.244) to [Yes] in the BIOS Setup Utility.
Afterwards, replace the faulty CPU.
Invalid NVRAM media type The NVRAM is abnormal. Power off the server and turn it back
on. If the message still appears, the baseboard must be replaced.
Contact an office listed in the "Contact Information" of the
"Start Guide".
Missing or invalid NVRAM token
Operating system not found The OS to start cannot be found. Check to see whether an
unnecessary floppy disk has been inserted, the cables of each
device are connected correctly, or whether the OS is recognized
by POST.
Check the Boot Sequence setting on the "8.2.4 Boot Options
Submenu" (pg.228) of the BIOS Setup Utility in the [Main]
menu. If the message still appears, the baseboard must be
replaced. Contact an office listed in the "Contact Information"
of the "Start Guide".
Parity Check 1 Power off the server and turn it back on. If the message still
appears, the baseboard must be replaced. Contact an office listed
in the "Contact Information" of the "Start Guide".
Parity Check 2
Unknown PCI Error Replace the expansion card. If the message still appears, the
baseboard must be replaced. Contact an office listed in the
"Contact Information" of the "Start Guide".
Fault Status Asserted on PCI hot plug slot The slide lock of PCI slot 1 or 2 may be opened. Check whether
or not the slide lock is closed. If the PCI slot is closed, contact
an office listed in the "Contact Information" of the "Start
Guide".

Message Description
Write protect error writing drive A.
Abort, Retry, Fail?
The inserted floppy disk is write-protected. Disable the
write-protect, and then press the [R] key.
Not ready writing drive A.
Abort, Retry, Fail?
The floppy disk is not inserted into the floppy disk
drive. Insert the proper floppy disk ("Server
Management Tools" floppy disk), and then press the
[R] key.
