Moistener
Maintenance
This section describes how to clean and/or replace the part of your mail-
ing system that moistens the flap on the envelope. This part of the mailing
system is the moistener brush assembly and consists of the moistener
brush, moistener wick and moistener tank.
If the seal quality does not improve after cleaning, you can replace the
wick or moistener brush as needed. To order replacements, refer to
Chap-
ter 11, Supplies and Options in this guide. Only a Pitney Bowes represen-
tative can install a new moistener tank.
CAUTION: Never remove the E-Z Seal® bottle and the moist-
ener tank at the same time. This can result in E-Z Seal® leaking
into the mailing machine.
Cleaning or Replacing the Moistener Brush
1. Lift the feed cover.
2. Push down on the moistener brush button and release.
3. Grasp the moistener brush assembly and lift it up and out towards you.

Priming the Moistener
Prime the moistener if you intend of running mail immediately after refilling
the E-Z Seal® Sealing Solution. This ensures the moistener has enough
fluid for sealing when a mail run begins.
1. Press the
Seal key.
2. Press the
Prime Moistener screen key.
3. Press the left arrow key to return to the Main screen.
