Configuring IP Routing
Overview
The following information and procedures provided in this chapter
pertain to layer 3 module configuration only:
Configuring Internet Protocol (IP) Global Routing
IP Multicast
Monitoring Switch Performance Using IP Statistics
Configuring Virtual Redundant Router Protocol (VRRP)
Configuring ICMP Router Discovery Protocol (IRDP)
Configuring Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)
Configuring Internet Protocol (IP) Global
Routing
You can emulate bridging capabilities inside the P550 /P880/P882
Switch chassis through Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs).
Capabilities that once were provided by additional hardware, such
as bridges, switches, and hubs, are now provided as virtual
configurations inside the router. The ability to emulate bridging
hardware through a virtual means is referred to as IP Routing.
High-level tasks involved in creating and setting up IP Routing
include:
IP Multicast
Monitoring Switch Performance Using IP Statistics
Configuring Virtual Redundant Router Protocol (VRRP)
Configuring ICMP Router Discovery Protocol (IRDP)
Configuring Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)
For information about creating and assigning physical ports to a
VLAN, refer to Creating and Implementing VLANs, in Chapter4.
