Installing the Ink Cartridge for the First Time

Warning:
The ink cartridges are self-contained units. Under ordinary
use, ink will not leak from a cartridge. If ink does get on your
hands, wash them thoroughly with soap and water. If ink gets
into your eyes, flush them immediately with water.
To install the ink cartridges for the first time, see the following.
To replace an empty ink cartridge, see Chapter 9,
“Maintenance and Transportation.”
1. Press the
Operate
button to turn on the printer. The
Operate
light comes on and the print heads automatically
move slightly to the left, which is the ink cartridge install
position. The
Pause
light begins to flash.
Note:
The print heads automatically move to the ink cartridge install
position only the first time you turn on the printer.
