New in this release
The following sections detail what is new in WLAN IP Telephony
Installation and Commissioning (NN43001-504) for CS 1000 Release 5.5.
Feature description
The self healing software enhancement eliminates the need for manual
intervention if a WLAN Telephony Manager 2245 fails. The wireless
handsets are configured with the IP address of a designated WLAN
Telephony Manager 2245. As the wireless handsets register, they receive
a list of IP addresses of other WLAN Telephony Manager 2245 in the
network and they distribute among other WLAN Telephony Manager 2245
to share the load. This WLAN Telephony Manager 2245 becomes the
registration point. The list of addresses automatically updates each time
the wireless handset powers on.
If the WLAN Telephony Manager 2245 fails, the wireless handset drops
active calls, then re-registers with another WLAN IP Telephony Manager
2245 in their list. The wireless handsets return to active state after this
registration period. This failure does not affect other wireless handsets
registered on the other WLAN IP Telephony Manager 2245 units.
The recovery period for the wireless handsets on the failed WLAN IP
Telephony Manager 2245 is approximately 60 seconds.
The entire network is inoperative when new software downloads to the
network of WLAN IP Telephony Manager 2245 units. When the download
completes, the network comes back into service automatically.
This functionality requires WLAN IP Telephony Manager 2245 minimum
software release 174.034, WLAN Handset 2210/2211/2212 minimum
firmware version 97.071, and WLAN Handset 6120/6140 minimum
firmware of 115.015. If any component is at an earlier release then the
system works in the current master or slave mode.
