Whether you do or do not use additional fonts, it is helpful to
know a few facts about how the printer uses fonts either
resident in the printer or
downloaded
(transferred) from the
host.
Each time you specify a font in a document to be printed, the
font is downloaded to printer,
unless the font is already
:
• Resident in the printer’s ROM (read-only memory)
—PCL
only

• Specified in the printer driver as permanently
downloaded to the printer’s internal memory
—PCL only
.
• Installed on the PostScript card
—PostScript only
.
• Installed on a font card
—PCL only
.
• Downloaded to the hard disk.
