Problems during Scanning
The following helps you solve problems encountered during scanning.
Note • Scan features are not available for some models. For more information, contact your Xerox
Customer Support Center.
To learn about scan features, click on [Help] in the scan driver screen and refer to the network scan
driver's online help.
Symptoms Check Remedy
Original doesn’t
feed into the
original feeder.
Is the original too small? The minimum size of the original that can
be loaded is the width 182mm and the
length 210mm.
Refer to "Usable Originals" (P.30).
Original is often
jammed.
Is the correct type of original
used?
Correctly set a correct type of original.
Refer to "Usable Originals" (P.30), "Step 3
Starting a Scan Job" (P.74).
Are the originals too small? The minimum size of the original that can
be loaded is the width 182mm and the
length 210mm.
Refer to "Usable Originals" (P.30).
A corner of the
original is folded.
Is the original curled? Flatten out the curl and set the original
again.
Scanning is not
made at the
desired size.
Did you select the original
size series properly?
Select the original size series properly to
match with the original size.

Is the original at the correct
position?
Correctly load the original.

Is the original guide at the
correct position?
Correctly set the original guides.

Is the original folded or
bent?
Straighten and properly reset the original.

The scanned
image is dirty.
Is the scanning area of
original dirty?
Clean the scanning area of original.
Refer to "Cleaning the Machine" (P.158).
Is the original printed on
colored paper, rough paper
or blueprint paper?
Adjust the scan density, image quality, or
background suppression.

(P.84), "Background Suppression (Erasing the
Background Color of the Original)" (P.84).
The scanned
image has black
lines.
Is the scanning area of
original dirty?
Clean the scanning area of original.

The scanned
image is too
dark.
Is the scan density set to
[Darken]?
Adjusts the scan density.
