Using Originals
Usable Originals
Originals that match and of the following sizes can be used.
Use the Document Carrier for These Originals
Use the document carrier for the following types of originals:
z
Originals that have been perforated, creased, heavily curled, or have holes
z
Originals that are stapled together
z
Originals to which glue or adhesive tape has been stuck.
Precautions When Handling Originals
Observe the following precautions when handling originals:
z
The scanning area may become soiled if originals to which glue or adhesive tape
have been stuck, or originals on which corrective fluids have been used are placed
in the copier. Take extreme caution when using glue that comes in a stick or spray
glue because black lines may appear on copies if the scanning area becomes soiled.
z
Use caution with originals that have been folded, wrinkled, perforated or had holes
punched in them. It may result in paper jams and tearing.
z
When rolled originals are to be used, ensure that the diameter of the roll is 1.6"
(40 mm) or larger. Rolls with a diameter of less than 1.6" must be flattened on the
lead edge.
z
When scanning thick originals, hold them lightly with your hand while being scanned.
