Manual Backup
Manually back up the Database and Journal under the following
conditions prior to:
updating your operating system
updating AMASS
making any major change to your system
replacing the hard disk on the UNIX server
How to Use Backup Command
To perform a backup with the AMASS command, use the
procedure in the following table.
Note
For detailed information on the commands used in these steps, see
the "Command Reference" chapter.
Step Command Description
1 Log in as amass or root.
2 Make sure the Backup Volume is formatted and is the last
home storage slot in the first library. Moreover, the Backup
Volume must be volume number 1 and have an INACTIVE
status.
