Chapter 4 Configuring Multiprotocol Label Switching
BGP Multipath Load Sharing for eBGP and iBGP in an MPLS VPN
eBGP and iBGP Multipath Load Sharing Configuration Example
Example 4-2 configures a router to select six eBGP or iBGP paths as multipaths in address family
configuration mode:
Example 4-2 Configuring eBGP and iBGP Multipath Load Sharing
Router(config)# router bgp 100
Router(config-router)# address-family ipv4 vrf vrf-1
Router(config-router-af)# maximum-paths eibgp 6
Verifying eBGP and iBGP Multipath Load Sharing
Example 4-3 shows sample output displayed when you enter the show ip bgp vpnv4 command. The third
line of output (Multipath:eiBGP) indicates that multipath load sharing is on.
Example 4-3 Verifying eBGP and iBGP Multipath Load Sharing
Router# show ip bgp vpnv4 all 10.22.22.0
BGP routing table entry for 10:1:22.22.22.0/24, version 19
Paths: (5 available, best #5)
